Supporting ICT at Tupou College in 2016

One significant part of our trip to Tupou College in October, 2015, was to identify ways that Newington can support Tupou’s use of ICT for learning. We visited classrooms, assessed network equipment and chatted to various people around the school to understand the needs.

Newington is very excited about being able to support our Tongan brothers in this way. Our service will focus on several key areas:

  1. Providing network cabling, equipment and wi-fi services in the Sesquicentenary buildings and across the campus
  2. Helping to refurbish classrooms with new whiteboards, data projectors and other equipment
  3. Building an E-learning Centre – a computer room with everything students will need to develop their ICT capability in several areas: basic skills, coding, graphic design, robotics, computer-aided design, and more!
  4. Developing skills in the Toloa staff – and boys – for supporting and maintaining the network and other equipment.

Over coming weeks we’ll be reaching out to many of our friends and technology partners to seek assistance as we collect equipment to send to Tonga early in the new year. If you’d like to help with this, please reach out to me via email at
